My name is Desiree Garcia, MA, LPCC. I am a board certified Professional Clinical Mental Health Counselor. I have been serving Albuquerque, NM since 2012. I started my private practice in June of 2020. Expanding to a group practice in 2023. I enjoy working with teens and young adults. My passion is to help others feel safe and comfortable while in session, so that they can process what is truly on their hearts.

My primary modalities are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am extremely passionate in helping others over come their trauma, settle their anxiety, depression, and work through emotions and feelings. I also enjoy helping students overcome their daily stressors by helping them manage a daily routine, schedule and making sure to add self-care.

I never want you to feel alone. I want you to know how much you matter. I understand mental health, as I have had my own personal battles. Life sometimes seems like it will never get better. Bad times don't have to equal a bad life. Your past doesn't' define you. Your life is worth taking the first step in talking to someone. Don't give up. Time heals, people change and working on ourselves is the biggest battle of them all. When you're ready, I'll be waiting. I support you.

My name is Chelsea Warren and I am excited to join the team at You Matter Counseling. I have a heart for helping clients navigate their counseling needs and I look forward to being a friendly face for those who walk into the agency. Currently, I am working towards becoming a therapist and personally I am growing to understand the impact each of our stories play in our lives and with others. I am a native New Mexican and I am glad to call Albuquerque home. In my spare time, I enjoy a good cup of coffee with friends, running, traveling with my husband Jeremy, and spending time with our three energetic kids.

My name is Isaac Penner, MA, LMHC. I was born and raised in New Mexico and am a proud Veteran. I am a board certified Licensed Mental Health Counselor with skills in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). My work is trauma-informed and I am educated on brain organization and dysfunction and how this can play out in daily life. I understand that making the decision to pursue therapy can be extremely difficult; therefore, my goal is to provide a safe place to allow my patients to explore their inner experience of thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations. I believe that knowing and accepting oneself is key to growth and my focus is to be someone who travels alongside you in that journey with empathy and compassion.

My name is Christina Williams, MA, LMHC. I am a board certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor. Before pursuing my degree in counseling, I worked for a human service nonprofit company for 14 years. Working with people has always been my passion. I am also a voracious reader and dabble in crochet.

Each person is unique in their outlook, history, and being. With respect to each person’s uniqueness, I believe in a multi-modal approach keeping in mind a person’s intersectionalities. I am well versed in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy centering mindfulness practices.

Making the decision to pursue therapy is difficult and takes courage. I wish to honor that courage with empathy, compassion, and a collaborative effort towards wherever the client’s therapy journey takes them.
